CurbPin

Real-time curbside discovery

How CurbPin works

See something free on the curb? Pin it. Someone nearby can grab it before it disappears.

CurbPin is a real-time, community-verified curbside discovery network. Our goal is to make CurbPin the fastest real-time neighborhood network for free things physically sitting outside right now. There are no prices, listings to negotiate, shipping fees, or pickup appointments. Freshness is the product: every pin shows when it was posted or last verified, so neighbors know what is still there, fetched, or gone.

  1. 1

    Drop a live curbside pin

See something clearly left for free pickup? Photograph it from the street, pin the location, and choose a useful category. CurbPin records when the report was made.

  2. 2

    Give nearby people fresh context

People nearby see the item, distance, and report freshness before deciding whether to go. Tapping I’m on my way signals pickup intent for 15 minutes without reserving the item. Neighbors only see a yellow “someone may be picking this up” status — never who is coming.

  3. 3

    Verify it in one tap

Anyone who passes the spot can mark it still there, fetched, or gone. Nearby, recent reports carry the confidence needed to update public status.

Status reflects what is known now

Available means the pin is still fresh. Someone may be picking it up is a temporary signal, not a reservation. Unverified means the latest confirmation has aged, and Conflicting reports means recent nearby updates disagree. Gone requires the pinner, a nearby fetched confirmation for a single item, or two recent nearby Gone reports.

Neighbors post the photos

CurbPin is user-generated: people photograph free stuff they saw on public streets. Open any pin to Report it or Block that person. We hide pins that break the community guidelines.

Is it a giveaway or trash?

Only post items that are clearly offered for free at the curb. Never enter private property, open bags, or take items marked for a specific person. Local pickup and bulk-trash rules still apply.

Reuse locally, waste less

CurbPin helps useful items stay in use longer, reduces avoidable waste, conserves the resources already invested in them, and connects free goods with nearby people who can use them. If something is unsafe, contaminated, or no longer usable, follow local recycling and disposal rules rather than offering it through CurbPin.
